Gentle Dermaplaning in NYC

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a safe and effective method that gently exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin cells and vellus hair to reveal a youthful glow. This non-invasive procedure suits all skin types and tones, except those with active acne.

By eliminating the barrier of dead skin, dermaplaning allows skincare products like serums to better penetrate the skin, maximizing their effectiveness. Experience the benefits of dermaplaning and leave our atelier with a smoother, more even skin texture.

What is Dermaplaning?

Our Dermaplaning Facial is a versatile and effective stand-alone treatment that offers numerous benefits for your skin. It can also be combined with other treatments to create a customized skin care plan based on your needs.

Dermaplaning is suitable for many skin conditions, and it can help improve the appearance of scarring. Patients often notice immediate results, with their skin feeling softer and appearing more even-toned. To protect your skin post-treatment, we recommend sunscreen and minimizing sun exposure.

Our Dermaplaning protocol also includes an enzyme peel an LED light therapy, finished with serum, moisturizer, and SPF.

 FAQs

  • Dermaplaning is a non-invasive exfoliation procedure that employs a surgical scalpel to gently scrape away the top layer of dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) from the face. This gentle and effective technique reveals smoother, brighter skin, enhancing texture, reducing dullness, and promoting a fresh and rejuvenated appearance. Additionally, it allows for better absorption of skincare products.

  • Dermaplaning offers several benefits, including improved skin texture and tone, enhanced product penetration, smoother makeup application, reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, removal of vellus hair, and a more radiant and glowy complexion. The procedure can also potentially improve the appearance of acne scars and fine lines, promoting improved skin texture and allowing for enhanced absorption of skincare products.

  • No, dermaplaning is a painless procedure. You may feel a light scraping sensation during the treatment, but it is generally well-tolerated and does not cause significant discomfort. Most clients actually find it quite relaxing.

  • This depends on the client's needs and the results they want to achieve. For maximum benefit, we recommend monthly dermaplaning. However, it's also a great treatment as a one-off if clients have a special occasion coming up and want their skin to be extra glowy and smooth (dermaplaning creates the perfect canvas for makeup to sit on)!

  • Most skin types and tones are suitable for dermaplaning and will benefit from incorporating it into their skincare routine, including sensitive skin. Unfortunately, we cannot treat individuals with severe active acne or those currently on a course of prescribed acne medication. The procedure is safe for expectant mothers, and men can undergo dermaplaning on areas where facial hair does not grow.

  • Dermaplaning does not directly cause breakouts; in fact, it can aid in preventing them. By exfoliating the skin, we eliminate excess oils, dirt, and bacteria trapped in the skin that might otherwise contribute to breakouts. This process helps reduce congestion and enhances the effectiveness of any anti-breakout products you may be using by allowing them to penetrate the skin more deeply.

  • Absolutely not. This is one of the most common misconceptions about dermaplaning. Vellus hairs are naturally thin and soft, and dermaplaning does not alter their structure. While dermaplaning creates a blunt tip at the end of the hair, giving the appearance of greater thickness as it grows, the hair itself remains just as thin as it was before.

  • There are at-home kits for dermaplaning, but they will not yield the same results. They can be unhygienic, and there is a risk of damaging your skin or causing breakouts. The devices used in these kits cannot compare to the blade professionals use. Additionally, these kits only remove hair, whereas we use a medical-grade scalpel that can also remove dead skin cells. It's not just hair removal; it's an exfoliation that also removes hair.
